Geraldine "Jerry" Dormann

Geraldine “Jerry” Dormann, 85 of Chappell, Nebraska died Wednesday morning, December 22, 2010 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Pastors Daniel Larson and Philip Found officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.
Cremation has been held and there is no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to be determined later.
Eighty-five years ago the Lord blessed us with Geraldine Gayle Sine at her grandparent’s (Joseph and Ona Lindley) farmhouse north of Lodgepole, Nebraska on January 11, 1925, the daughter of Leland and Edith (Lindley) Sine.
Jerry grew up in the Lodgepole, Dalton and Chappell areas and it was while living in Dalton she met and married Wayne Bayne on December 21, 1941. At this time Wayne was serving in the U.S. Army and this venture in their life took them to numerous places including: Dothan, AL, Nashville, TN, Montgomery, AL, Panama City, FL and Madison, WI. After his discharge in Boise, ID, they resided in Chappell, NE for a short time before their lives took yet another move to Hood River, OR in 1946. Jerry worked in the Apple Growers Cannery during pear season. In 1951 they loaded up with their four children and moved to Port Orford, OR where her husband managed Marsh Ranch and worked nights at Western States Plywood Mill. In 1954 Jerry lost her husband in a sawmill accident. Being the mother of four children, she made the decision to move her family back to Chappell to be around her mother and her two sisters and their families.
Shortly after this she met and married Ott Dormann.
Jerry worked for the local Gamble Store for nearly twenty years until a back injury forced her into early retirement.
She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors. She was also a Boy Scouts Den Mother.
Survivors are son Ron Bayne and wife Debra, son Allen Bayne and daughter Linda Koch and husband Spike all of Chappell, NE; Grandchildren: Candice and Roger Hodges and family, Duke and Darci Schneider and family and Troy Bayne all of Chappell, NE, Brian and Emily Bayne of Dallas, TX and David and Becky Bayne and family of Lincoln, NE; 10 Great-grandchildren; 2 Great, great-granddaughters. This beautiful family was Jerry’s pride and joy. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter (Diana Gayle); her parents, both husbands, son Joe Bayne, sisters Jo Williams and June Yoder, brother-in-law Fay Williams and two great-grandsons Trevor Lee and Shayden Lynn.
