Vern Dettman

Vern (Eggers) Dettman, 96, of Ft. Collins and former Lewellen resident, died late Saturday evening, January 29, 2011, at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

A service honoring her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen with Pastor Ray Weinerman officiating. A private interment will be in the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh.

A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church in Lewellen.

Vern (Eggers) Dettman was born February 4, 1914 in Lewellen, NE to Elmer and Ella (Rittenhouse) Eggers. She married Harold Nelson in 1934. Harold died in January 1936. One daughter, Patricia (Pat), was born in April 1936 to this marriage.

In 1944 she married William (Bill) Dettman. They spent their entire married life in Lewellen. Bill died in 1988 and in 2001, Vern moved to Ft. Collins, CO to be closer to her daughter, Pat. She remained in Ft. Collins, at Parkwood Estates, until her death.

Vern was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lewellen, NE. She enjoyed UMW, Hobby Club, and playing pinnocle.

Vern is survived by one daughter, Patricia Schipper of Ft. Collins, CO; three grandchildren, Pennie and husband Troy Reese of Grant, NE, Dirk Schipper of Ogallala, NE, and Brenda and husband Greg Bloemke of Castle Rock, CO; three great-grandchildren, Jason and wife Adair Reese of Grant, NE, Shana and husband Todd Kraus of Grant, NE, and Heather and husband Brett Rosenbaum of Grand Junction, CO; two great-great grandchildren, Ava and Alec Reese of Grant, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; two sisters, Vina and Alice; and son-in-law Adrian Schipper.
