Ada Taylor, 98 of Chappell, Nebraska died Thursday evening, February 3, 2011 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 7, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell with Pastor Ezekiel Koech of the Chappell United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Julesburg, Colorado.

Memorials have been established to the Miller Memorial Care Center, the Chappell Ambulance Service or the Chappell United Methodist Church.


Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell.

Ada Viola Taylor, the daughter of George T. and Ella May (Zimmerman) Brown was born May 2, 1912 on a farm in Logan County, Colorado near Merino. She was raised south of Julesburg, Colorado on the “river road”

She was united in marriage to Edward R. Taylor on August 30, 1931 at the Julesburg Methodist Church Parsonage. To this union eight children were born. In 1953 Ada and Ed built a home near Chappell, Nebraska where she resided until she moved to Miller Memorial Care Center in January of 2004.

Ada was a 4-H member in her youth. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, leading the Cadettes and Seniors and helping with Day Camp. She is a 50 year member of the Chappell United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her six children: Mildred (Karl) Bules of Chappell, NE, Roy Taylor of Oregon, Ray (Phyllis) Taylor of Burley, ID, Clyde (Ruth) Taylor of Cook, WA, Rose (Biff) Starks of Nashville, TN and Linda (Dean) Walmsley of Chappell, NE; 19 Grandchildren, 32 Great-grandchildren, and 22 Great, great-grandchildren; one sister Veva (Jack) Sauder of Torrington, WY and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed; two daughters: Evelyn and Mary; 1 Granddaughter; 3 Great-grandchildren; one brother Everett and two sisters: Alta and Ollie.
