Barry Bauer, 55 of Lodgepole, Nebraska died Tuesday afternoon, February 8, 2011 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Gurley with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Inurnment will be in the Weyerts Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home. Friends who wish may sign the register book on Friday until 5:00 P.M. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorials have been established to the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Barry Lynn Bauer, the son of Lavern L. and Margaret M. (Marshall) Bauer was born May 3, 1955, the twin of Terry Bauer. He grew up on a farm in the Weyerts area of Cheyenne County. He attended grade school at the Weyerts District #32 School before attending Lodgepole High School. He finished his education at the Educational Service Unit #14. Barry worked at Safe Play in Sidney before returning to the family farming operation, now known as Bauer Brothers Farm.

He was a faithful and active member of the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church where he ushered and made coffee every Sunday. Barry enjoyed horseshoes and was a member of the Cheyenne County Horseshoe Club and had been a member of the Lodgepole Jaycee’s.

Barry and Terry were avid followers of the sports teams in the area. The Lodgepole High School class of 1997 dedicated the school annual to them for all their support for not only the school sports, but also music and drama.

Survivors include his brother Terry of Lodgepole, NE; two aunts: Peggy Marshall of Syracuse, NY and Vi Bauer of Lodgepole, NE as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
