Ronald R. Rohlfing

Ronald R. Rohlfing, 82, of Lewellen, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen with Vonnie Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow in Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen with military honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Cremation was held and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Lewellen Library or Garden County EMS.

Ronald Robert Rohlfing was born on June 16, 1928 in Lewellen to Henry and Waunita (Kent) Rohlfing. He grew up and received his education in Lewellen, graduating from Lewellen Rural High School in 1946. Ron attended Chadron State College for a short time before entering the United States Air Force on January 14, 1949. He was honorably discharged on October 7, 1952. He returned to Leadville, CO where he worked in a mine for a year and then moved back to Lewellen to farm.

Ron was united in marriage to Peggy Ann Weinsheim on September 19, 1954 in Lewellen. They made their home at the farm where he was engaged in farming and ranching. He retired from farming and later worked for his nephew at Blue Mountain Seeding in the late 1980’s.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed gardening and loved watching sports especially the Nebraska Huskers.

He was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Mindy Rohlfing and friend Denny Meyer of Julesburg, CO; sisters, Nyla and husband Henry Geisman of Longmont, CO, Ruth and husband Carlin Frerichs of Ogallala, Carol Vasa of Ogallala; sister-in-law, Betty and husband Bonnell Frost of Boulder, CO; brother-in-law, Don and wife Beverly Weinsheim of Sedgwick, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Rohlfing in 2002; daughter, Rhonda Ann in 1957; and his parents.
