Opal Adam

Opal Adam, 93 of Dalton, Nebraska died Wednesday morning, February 16, 2011 at the Heritage of Bridgeport Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 21, 2011 in the United Church of the Plains, Presbyterian site in Dalton, Nebraska with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the United Church of the Plains, the Morrill County Hospital Foundation, the Prairie Haven Hospice or the Donor’s Choice.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Opal E. Adam, the daughter of George and Julia (Reise) Stevens was born December 4, 1917 at Miller, Nebraska. She was raised in rural Miller, Nebraska where she attended school, graduating from Miller High School.

On December 2, 1946 she married John P. Adam and they made their home on the family farm south of Dalton, Nebraska.

She enjoyed life to the fullest while growing crops, livestock, gardens and friendships. She sold many pints of cream and dozens of eggs to people in the area. She immensely enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors.

In 1978 Opal and John moved into Dalton for retirement and in 2006 she moved to Heritage of Bridgeport. Family, friends and neighbors were Opal and John’s most treasured things in life, along with their faith in God.

Survivors include her son Ted and wife Bev Adam of Dalton, NE; one granddaughter Elizabeth and husband Jonas Grundman and their newborn son Isaac Nathaniel of Omaha, NE; and one younger brother James and wife Frances Stevens of Paxton, NE

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1997, daughter Mary and brothers and sister-in-laws: Norris and Minnie Stevens and Warren and June Stevens.
