Ilene Rahe, 80 of Chappell, Nebraska died late Monday afternoon, March 21, 2011 at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home in Julesburg, Colorado.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Pastors Daniel Larson and Gary Rahe officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ilene F. Rahe, the daughter of Eugene and Iris (Williams) Crafts was born June 13, 1930 at Chadron, Nebraska. She was raised by her aunt and uncle in Oelrichs, SD before moving to Sidney where she lived with her sister and attended the Sidney Public Schools.

On January 12, 1948 she was united in marriage to Henry L. Jurgens. Three daughters were born to this union: Sandra, Patty and Lorie. They made their home on a farm east of Gurley. After her husband’s death in 1967, the family moved to Sidney where she worked as a typesetter at the Sidney Telegraph.

On March 18, 1972 she married Larry Rahe, adding daughter Fauneil and son Lyneil. She and Larry ran the Starlite Lanes and Steakhouse and she worked as a typesetter at the Chappell Register.

Ilene enjoyed her grandchildren, her flower garden, family gatherings and Nebraska football games.

Survivors include her husband Larry Rahe of Chappell, NE; one son Lyneil (Susan) Rahe of Chappell, NE; four daughters: Sandra Jacobs and Patty (Phil) Kurz both of Sidney, NE, Lorie Atkins and special friend Bart Bondegard of Chappell, NE and Fauneil (Bob) Dickerson of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers: Pat and Jim McAdams both of Carmichael, CA; two sisters: Beverly Smith of Henderson, NV and Anita Dowty of Granite Bay, CA; Grandchildren Robert and Richard Shoopman, Alisa (Steve) Darnall, Brian (Sheri) Kurz, Colette Kurz, Dawn (Zac) Roth, Jamie (Candee) Hanway, Michael Rahe, Netayna, Chad, Shawn and Chris Dickerson; and Great-grandchildren: Kassidy and Kaitlyn Darnall, Jacob and Owen Kurz, Natalee, Maegan and Jamison Hanway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marcella Krueger and Ava Joan Crafts and brother Bill McAdams.
