Wilma L. Ross

Wilma L. Ross, 89, of Merino, Colorado and a former Sidney resident died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Sterling, Colorado.

The family will be greeting friends for a time of remembrance between 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorials have been established to any Veteran’s Organization or the Donor’s Choice.

Wilma Louise Upton Ross, the daughter of Olin M. and Lula Mae (Bowles) Upton was born December 20, 1921 at McAlester, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she graduated from Central High School.

In 1943 she married Gene Shuler, a Schlumberger perforating engineer. They spent many years chasing the wildcat oilfields, moving to Sidney the second time in 1957.

In Sidney, in 1960, Wilma married Dennis Ross, a driller with a local oil producing company. Wilma remained in Sidney until 2009 when she moved to Merino, Colorado.

Wilma was an avid Denver Broncos fan.

Survivors include three sons: Gene Shuler and wife Freddie of Lawton, OK, Wes Shuler and wife Tonya of Albuquerque, NM and Dennis Ross and wife Penny of Minot, ND; one daughter Linda Dougherty of Merino, CO; 4 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren and 15 Great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremation in Sidney is serving the Ross family.
