William Holz was born March 19, 1916 at Beatrice, Nebraska to George and Anna (Delabar) Holz.

On October 13, 1940 he was married to Alvina Vordertrasse at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth, Nebraska.

He was a metal craftsman and a busy inventor, and because of those skills he was always tinkering in his garage building powered playground equipment for his grandchildren or any neighborhood children. He was usually found playing with, carrying, or talking to any of the children present.
