Loree (Vincent) Wendt

April 21, 1918 — October 7, 2011

Loree Hazel Went, 93 of Tempe, Arizona and a former Chappell area resident passed away peacefully on October 7, 2011.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Chappell Cemetery in Chappell, Nebraska with Pastor Ezekiel Koech officiating.

She was born a few miles from Julesburg, Colorado to Robert and Willemina Seidel where she was raised on a farm and attended country school. She became a teacher at age 16 after graduating from Chappell High School. Loree attended Kearney Nebraska Teacher’s College and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in education from Arizona State University. Loree retired at 60 from the Kyrene School District, completing a 40 year teaching career. She was a reading specialist for 18 years and loved teaching little children, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority with 56 years of service.

After her retirement, she spent a considerable amount of time volunteering in her daughter’s classroom in California and traveling the world visiting China, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Mexico and the South Pacific.

Glenn C. Wendt, her husband of 59 years, preceded her in death in 2001.

Loree is survived by a son, George; daughter Peggy Sue Whisenhunt; daughter-in-law Patricia; son-in-law John; 7 Grandchildren and 18 Great-grandchildren.
