Vivian L. Kallsen, 76, of Lewellen, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Garden County Health Services in Oshkosh.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh. Cremation has taken place and private family scattering of the ashes will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Garden County Health Services Hospital in Oshkosh.

Vivian Kallsen was born September 14, 1935 to John and Edith (Orr) McCall at Lewellen, Nebraska.

She received her education at Lewellen Grade and High Schools.

She attended Kearney State Teacher’s College and earned her teacher’s certificate. She taught at a 1 room school house until her marriage. The school was located ½ mile west of the Kallsen Farm.

She married Vern Kallsen in 1954. To this union 1 son and 2 daughters were born.

After her marriage, she was employed by her mother at the old Lewellen Nursing Home which is currently the Gander Inn, cleaned homes for several years, and then began working part time for Ash Hollow State Historical Park for 40 years. She retired in 2010.

Her hobbies were reading, solving crossword puzzles, and in her later years Cornhusker Baseball.

She is survived by her husband, Vern of Lewellen; daughter, Jana and husband, Roy Rundback of Scottsbluff; son, Walt and wife, Kay Kallsen of Big Springs; grandchildren, Elizebeth and Jeremy Simpson, Jim and Christie Armstrong, Brad and Stacy Rundback, Jennifer and Melissa Kallsen and Kristin and Ryan Thomas; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Rogeina; and 2 grandsons, Jon and Jason.
