Helen Potts

April 14, 1921 — March 6, 2012

Helen Potts, 90, of Oshkosh, passed away Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at the Garden County Health Services Nursing Home in Oshkosh.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen with Pastor Lynn Lutz officiating.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Holechek Funeral Home & Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Potts family.

Helen Sue (Nicholls) Potts was born April 24, 1921 to Stephen and Bexie (Young) Nicholls in Prosser, Nebraska. At a young age she moved with her family to Oshkosh, where she attended school and graduated from Garden County High School.

After high school she attended nursing classes at Western Nebraska General in Scottsbluff.

On June 22, 1940 she was united in marriage to Claud Potts in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union 3 son: Samuel, Gary and Larry were born.

She worked at the Garden County Hospital for many years as a registered nurse until her retirement.

She enjoyed crocheting, helping her husband hay the fields, raising horses and sheep and fishing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in her retirement.

Helen is survived by sons; Gary of Bennet, NE and Larry and wife Patricia of Liveoak, FL; grandchildren, Carrisa and husband Eric of Sprauge, NE; Jeremy and Amanda of Oshkosh, and Geoffrey of Oshkosh; sister Lois and husband Simmons Cook of Sidney, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Samuel “Sammy”; and brother, Richard.
