Mardelle Clark

Mardelle Clark, 77 of Chappell, Nebraska died Friday evening, March 9, 2012 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in the Chappell United Methodist Church with Pastor Ezekiel Koech officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association.

Mardelle Edwards Clark was born May 22, 1934, in Amherst Nebraska to Madeline and Kenneth Edwards. When she was 13 her father died and she moved to Chappell, Nebraska with her mother and brother to be closer to family.


She graduated from Deuel County High School in 1951 and then from beauty school at Hastings, Nebraska. On March 20, 1953, she married Raymond Clark in Chappell, Nebraska. They were married nearly 59 years.


They had 2 children, Scott and Kim. Mardelle was a loving and dedicated mother; she encouraged and supported her children in their school and sports activities.

In 1955, she and Carol Gardner organized the first Chappell High School Alumni Reunion and she was on the organizing committee for 20 years. She worked for the Fashion Plaza Beauty Shop, Dr. Ward Newcomb, Foster Lumber, and the Deuel County Treasurer's Office.

In 1977 she and Raymond moved to Loveland Colorado, where she worked as a title clerk for Larimer County Department of Motor Vehicles for 20 years. On their retirement in 1998, they returned to Chappell.


Mardelle was a member of the Chappell United Methodist Church for 64 years. She will be remembered as a trustworthy and devoted friend.


Mardelle is survived by her husband Raymond, her daughter and son-in-law Kim and Kent Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska, her daughter-in-law Karan Clark of Sidney, Nebraska, her sister Cathy Rothe of Arlington, Virginia, 3 grandchildren, Aaron and Ryne Clark and Lana Peterson, 3 great- grandchildren, Zakk and Ben Clark and Abbi Mick and one niece Melissa Rothe.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bruce Edwards, and her son Scott Clark.
