Harold LeRoy Allen was born August 27, 1920 on the family farm in Lenora, Kansas to Clarence and Bessie (Bayer) Allen. He grew up on the farm and attended the Lenora Rural Schools graduating from high school in 1938.

He was united in marriage to Edith Wiltfong on March 13, 1942 at Denver, Colorado. To this union 2 children were born: David and Barbara.

After farming for 24 years and providing his children and wife with their educations he sold the farm in 1970. He worked for a time at Norton State Home for special children and lived in several cities such as Lenora, Holdrege, Nebraska, and Denver, Colorado. While working in Denver he built a home north of Lake McConaughy and retired there in 1984. His wife, Edith, passed away in 1988 from cancer.

He later met and married Joan Frye on October 9, 1999 at Lewellen, Nebraska. They enjoyed their many years together and with their families.

During his life he was a member of the Masons, Knights Templar and Shriners. He also served as President of the City Chamber, was a 4-H leader and served on many church boards. He truly enjoyed whatever he was involved with.

In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and playing cards. He enjoyed remodeling houses and antiquing. He was very proud of all that he accomplished.
