Jean Skarka, 84 of Sidney, Nebraska died Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2012 at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday April 26 2012 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Reverend Leonard Suhr officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association or Hospice Care at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.

Jean Skarka, the youngest of eleven children, was born to Clarence and Elizabeth Pinney June 27, 1927 in Gering, NE. Jean grew up in the Scottsbluff-Gering area where she attended school.

She married Cliff Skarka June 26, 1948 in Gering, NE. Jean and Cliff had a loving sixty-four year marriage. Raising two sons Ron and Rex, she was always there for her family and later loved being with her grandchildren and great grandson. Jean also enjoyed dancing and traveling with Cliff to various vacation destinations.

Survivors include her husband Cliff of Sidney, son Ron and his wife Connie of Littleton, CO., grandson David Skarka and wife Shannon, and great grandson Joshua of Greeley, CO., granddaughters Jennifer Daniel and husband Matt, and Katie Herrera and husband Chris all of Denver, CO. Son Rex and wife Lori of Kearney, NE, granddaughter Sarah of Omaha, NE, and grandson Kellen of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Tucker of St. John, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
