Eldora Schubarth

Eldora Schubarth, 88 of Sidney, Nebraska died Saturday morning, June 2, 2012 at the Aurora Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 8, 2012 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Bradley Heinecke officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery south of Sidney.

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with the family present from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.

Memorials have been established to the Lutheran Hour or the American Cancer Society.

Eldora Sophie Laura Schubarth was born in Kenesaw, Nebraska on February 28, 1924. She was the second youngest child of William and Augusta (Utecht) Nienhueser and had nine siblings. In 1928, the family moved to Haxtun, Colorado and in 1934 they settled on a farm south of Sidney.

Eldora graduated from Sidney High School in 1942 and began working for the Sidney telephone company.

Eldora and Rudolph “Rudy” Schubarth were married on December, 2, 1945 and lived on a farm near Potter, Nebraska. In 1947 they welcomed a daughter, Janice. In August 1991 Rudy and Eldora moved to Sidney, Nebraska where Eldora continued to live until January 2011 when she then moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to family.


For 40 years, Eldora sewed custom made draperies for Fischer’s Home Furnishings. In addition she was very active in church and served numerous times as an officer for LWML and helped make quilts for World Relief at the church. Eldora enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing and socializing and was very close to her family. Her lively and generous spirit will be celebrated and remembered fondly by all who knew her.


Eldora is survived by her daughter Janice (Glenn) Miller of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandson Brett (Lisa) Miller and their daughter Ella of Castle Rock, CO; granddaughter Renee (Rudy) Bracamonte of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers: Vearn Nienhueser and Ray (Dorothy) Nienhueser all of Sidney, NE; and many nieces and nephews

Eldora was preceded in death by a grandson Chad Miller; her parents, her husband in 1998; three brothers: Herb, Victor, Cliff and Art Nienhueser and three sisters: Irene Fischer, Mable Tegtmeier and Helen Koester.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Schubarth family.
