Lee was born February 7, 1927 to Charles Arnold and Ida Claudia (Barton) Money in Running Water, Texas. It was always an interesting family story the Popo took great pride in noting he was born in a town that doesn’t exist anymore. His family lived primarily in the Texas Panhandle throughout his school years and he joined the Army in 1945. He received his Honorable Discharge and joined an oil field company that had him travelling all over. It was during his travels that he found himself at the café in Dalton, Nebraska where he was waited on by Mary Gilgren. He proceeded to marry his devoted waitress on November 19, 1951.

Three children were born to this union, during which time Mary and Lee lived in Nebraska and California. They settled in the Texas Panhandle and spent most of their lives there until Lee retired and they moved back to Dalton in 1993. Lee thoroughly enjoyed fishing and keeping his yard looking nice. His greatest interest was in football and he had been a fan of the sport since he saw his first football game on a TV in a store in Washington D.C. while he was in the military. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and as college football took to airtime popularity he extended that love to the Texas Longhorns. As much as he loved his football, nothing compared to the love he had for his family and spending time with them. Popo was happiest when his family was gathered around and just spending the day talking and being together.

Popo is survived by his son Rick and wife, Sue Money of Dalton; daughter, Colleen and husband, Chuck Albus of Pampa, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Randy and wife, Shannon Cloud of Parker, Colorado, Kim and husband, Freddy Money-Vega and Scott Money of Lincoln, California, Kelly Money of Dalton, Susan and husband, Kevin Chloupek and Tracy and husband, Mike Tjarks of Kearney, Nebraska, Kris Adams and Shari Albus of Sidney, Nebraska; 11 great grandchildren, Joel, Daxton, Jaa, Martin, Melina, Shyanne, Taylor, Logan, Dani, Ethan, and Karsyn. There are many others that Popo held dear to his heart and will survive him and continue to celebrate his life with the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Claudia, his wife, Mary, and his son, Randy.

Friends and Family attending the service are invited to wear attire supporting their favorite football team.
