Don Anderson, 90 of Lodgepole, Nebraska died Sunday afternoon, September 23, 2012 at the Via Christi Health Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 28, 2012 in the Lodgepole United Methodist Church with Pastor Ezekiel Koesch officiating. Graveside services with military rites will be at 3:30 P.M. Friday in the Whitman Cemetery at Whitman, Nebraska.

Memorials have been established to the Book Mobile through the Sidney Public Library.

Visitation will be held at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.


Donald Richard Anderson, the son Clyde and Bertha (Glause) Anderson was born August 14, 1922 at Palmer, Nebraska. He grew up in the sand hills of Nebraska where he worked for several ranches in the area. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After his discharge he returned to the sand hills where he met Deloris Evans and they were married in August of 1951. To this union four children were born. They made their home in the sand hills where he worked as a ranch hand. The family moved to Chadron in 1966 where he was employed in various occupations. In 1970 they moved to Lodgepole where he worked for different road construction companies.

Don was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons: Rick and wife Carrie Anderson of Chadron, NE and Randy and wife Julie Anderson of Tucson, AZ; two daughters: Cathy and husband Gene Brown of Latham, KS and Cindy and husband Allan Bruns of Dundee, OR; five grandchildren: Misty, Amanda, Michael, Elyse and Erica and two great-grandchildren Alpine and Zoey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and six sisters.
