Clara Dickinson, 89 of Lodgepole, Nebraska died early Sunday morning, November 25, 2012 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 30, 2012 in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lodgepole with Wayne Fraass, P.M.A. officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery north of Lodgepole.
Memorials have been established to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Miller Memorial Care Center.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Clara Christina Dickinson, the daughter of Benjamin August and Theda Laverne (Cooper) Grasz was born February 28, 1923 in Garden County near Lewellen, Nebraska. The family moved to Julesburg, Colorado for a short time before returning to Garden County where they lived on a farm and she finished elementary school at District 37J.
On September 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Marion Dickinson at Chappell, Nebraska. They lived in Lodgepole a short time and then moved to a small farm west of Lodgepole where they lived for 13 years before moving back to Lodgepole in 1956.
Clara was employed by Floyd Wise at the Red and White Store in the meat department, in Lodgepole for 13 years, and Nightingale’s Grocery for 17 years, retiring in 1988.
She enjoyed many get-togethers and campouts with family, antiques and collectibles, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Jerry (Maryann) Dickinson of Lodgepole, NE; son-in-law Kenneth Bieber of Julesburg, CO; 2 brothers: Albert and Vic Grasz of North Platte, NE; 2 brother-in-laws: Wayne Powell of Lochbue, CO and Lenard Dickinson of Sidney, NE; 4 sisters: Helen (Dee) Powell of Arvada, CO, Vera (Wayne) Bottrell of Kingsbeach, CA, Dorthy (Gene) Krumm of Ovid, CO and Beth (Darold) Cheleen of Chappell, NE; 3 sister-in-laws: Frances Grasz of Ovid, CO, Marie Grasz of North Platte, NE and Jane Grasz of Lexington, OK; 6 Grandchildren: Debbie (Greg) Coleman of Palmyra, VA, Kevin (Marie) Bieber of Fort Morgan, CO, Marcine Dickson of Colcord, OK, Michael (Holly Hughes) Sellers of Sidney, NE, Wade (Kristin Miller) Dickinson of Lodgepole, Ne and Jay (Mitzi) Dickinson of Lodgepole, NE; 5 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marion; 2 daughters: Alta Bieber and Betty Vavra; son-in-law Joe Vavra; 2 sisters Edna Porter and Rita Powell and 5 brothers: LeRoy, Art, Clarence, Harvey and Jess Grasz.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Dickinson family.
