Richard L. Paulsen

March 14, 1972 — December 1, 2012

Richard Paulsen, 40 of rural Oshkosh, Nebraska died early Saturday morning, December 1, 2012 at Sidney Regional Medical Center in Sidney from injuries suffered in an automobile accident north of Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Chappell United Methodist Church with Pastor Ezekiel Koech officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery northeast of Chappell.

Memorials have been established to the Deuel County 4-H.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell.

Richard Lee Paulsen was born in Omaha, NE on March 14, 1972. He was the only son of Robert M. and Wanda (Roush) Paulsen. He attended Chappell Public Schools and graduated in 1990. He attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY.

On October 14, 2000 he married Amber Cranmore at the home of his parents. Two children were born to this union: Royal Lee and Emma Jean.


He was a self employed carpenter, farmer and rancher. He also helped his father with the family farm and ranch. He found great enjoyment in farming, riding a horse, and working with cattle.


Richard was an outstanding carpenter. He lived in the home of his paternal grandparents and had completely remodeled it into a gorgeous home. His beautiful work can also be seen in many homes throughout the community.

He enjoyed woodworking, roping, cooking, and entertaining. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his children because they were the joy of his life!


He had a special interest in the Deuel County 4-H and spent countless hours on various 4-H projects. He had amazing leadership qualities that enabled him to be a great asset, not only to 4-H, but other organizations in the community.

He is survived by his children, Royal (age 11) and Emma (age 9); his parents, Robert and Wanda Paulsen of Chappell, NE; one sister, Karla and husband Doug Criswell; one nephew, Logan Criswell; one niece, Jaden Criswell all of Chappell, NE. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Velva Paulsen and his maternal grandparents, Harold and Margaret Roush.
