I. Lynn Clark, 73 of Chappell passed away at his home in Chappell on Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5th, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church in Chappell, Nebraska with Pastor Rich Graeff officiating.

Visitation at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell was on Thursday from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.

I Lynn Clark was born on July 11, 1939 at the family homestead farm south of Chappell to Irven F. and B. Mae (Williams) Clark. He attended school in Chappell and Graduated from Chappell High School in 1957. Lynn attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated in 1962, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Industrial Arts.

Lynn was united in marriage to Flo A. Brown on August 12, 1961 at the United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Following graduation they returned to the family farm in Chappell. To this union two sons were born; Jeffrey in 1963 and Daniel in 1965.

Lynn loved growing things; everything from trees to crops. He focused on the traditional winter wheat at first, then branched out into various spring crops. Raising the eyebrows of many neighbors, Lynn was a leader in the growing practice of no-till farming. He was awarded the coveted Outstanding Conservation Farm Award for his exacting care of the land and his pioneering efforts for more than 10 years in no-till farming. He raised sheep and fed cattle on the family farm and had many good friends in his numerous dogs over the years.
Many generations of cats were also hosted at the Clark Farm.

Lynn loved building and construction of all kinds. He worked many winters doing remodeling and other construction projects. He also built a house on 6th Street in Chappell with his cousin, Alan Sims. This fulfilled a personal dream of building a home from the ground up. In later years, he embarked on the construction of his own home-built aircraft. The project didn't see completion but he spent many joyful hours of dreaming, planning and laboring on his "toy".

Lynn was a member of Pheasants Forever. He served on the Farmers Elevator Board for 7 years, several years on the Extension Board and was a 4-H Leader for a few years. He was a pilot and delighted in taking young kids on airplane rides to open up new worlds for them. These plane rides also became the coveted rewards for Flo's Junior Bible Quiz team members at the Assembly of God Church where they were members.

Lynn was gifted with a curious mind and was life-long learner. He had a passion for reading and enjoyed World War II history, especially the Aeronautical side of the war. He was a dedicated husband, father & grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Lynn is survived by his wife Flo of Chappell, his two sons; Jeff and wife Leann of Lyons, Nebraska, Dan and wife Mary Jo of Hastings, Michigan; his two grandsons; Brian and Nathan Clark both of Redding, California.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials have been established at the Chappell Assembly of God Church, the Melanoma Cancer Research Foundation & Sidney Hospice. Donors may designate gifts to these funds in Lynn's name or gifts may be given to the family who will designate them.
