Robert "Bob" McCord

A Celebration of Robert (Bob) McCord’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Oshkosh with daughter-in-law, Pastor Bonnie McCord, officiating. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family welcomes everyone to participate in a carry-in dinner immediately following services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be divided between the Oshkosh United Methodist Church, the Oshkosh Senior Center and The Pool Fund.
Robert W. (Bob) McCord was born February 17, 1934 to William McCord and Grace Brown McCord at Alliance, Nebraska. He left his earthly home on April 19, 2013 to join family and friends in his heavenly home. After years of suffering from a heart condition he welcomed the end. Bob was fortunate to have a “near death” experience in 1993 after heart surgery so he knew what a beautiful home he was going to.
On April 14, 1952 he married his best friend Ardeen Wymore in Oshkosh, Nebraska. They just celebrated the 61st anniversary. The majority of their lives were spent in Oshkosh except four years the family lived in Rawlins, Wyoming. Three sons were born, Gary, Terry, and Joe. At 15 months of age their first beloved son, Gary, died of acute lymphatic leukemia.
Bob loved his family and was a gentle, caring man. He was a 60 year member of the United Methodist Church and served several years as a member of the Oshkosh volunteer fire fighters.
The family enjoyed several years of boating, fishing, and water skiing. Bob was an avid hunter. He and his boys spent many many happy hours with beloved hunting dogs in a goose pit.
Bob enjoyed the family trips when the boys were at home and in later years he and Ardeen loved to cruise to the Caribbean and Alaska.
To cherish his memories he leaves his wife, Ardeen; son Terry and wife, Bonnie and their 2 sons, Will and Ian, Will’s wife, Tara and their daughter Lisett; son, Joe and wife, Sheri and their 3 sons, Connor, Chandler, and Reid; his sister, Penny and husband, Glen Vincent; his brother Jack and wife, Jonna, all of Oshkosh; several nieces and nephews and a special cousin and friend, Doug Paulsen.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Gary.
