Maureen was born in Macedonia, Iowa on January 10, 1922 to Orrin and Elsie (Mercer) Osler. She had an older brother, Harold Milton Osler who preceded her in death in 1965. Maureen had two children, Ronn born in 1939 and Connie born in 1946. Maureen moved to Chappell when she was in the fifth grade and lived in Chappell until her death.

Maureen was a farmer; she loved farming and ran the farm by herself for the last 23 years. She was a devoted daughter and in their later years she looked after her parents faithfully until they died. She was a devoted mother and made her children her first priority. She attended all her son’s sports activities: football, basketball, track and baseball. She made sure that her daughter had all the advantages that she didn’t. There were dancing lessons, piano lessons, swimming lessons, organs lesson and baton twirling lessons. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Brownies leader and Girl Scout leader. She was always willing to provide transportation for school activities. She had amazing patience with children.

Maureen was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Chappell, was a member of the Sunny South Club and P.E.O. She had many friends and loved her neighbors on the “south table”. She loved playing bridge and belonged to several bridge groups. These “bridge ladies” all became close friends.

During her later years when she was alone on the farm she was able to have German shepherd dogs in her house. King, Max, Ceasar, Prince and Rex will all be waiting for her care. She dearly loved them and buried then in the east barn.

Her “Iowa” family, many of whom preceded her in death were very important to her. Her brother Harold had two boys, Jim and Jerry and two girls, Janice and Jeannie. Her mother’s sister, Hazel and her husband Burl had four girls around Maureen’s age. She was particularly close to her cousins: Pauline, Lorraine, Patricia and Jacqueline.

Her “Chappell” family: son Ronn Castle of Denver, CO and his step-children Teela Craik of Denver, CO and Dana and husband David Green and their children Ashley, Brandy and Austin of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Connie Castle Goddard and her husband Greg of Buffalo, WY and their two sons: Christopher and wife Melissa and their two daughters Kalli and Jordan of Mesa, AZ and Luke and wife Marcia and their son Ian of Tucson, AZ. She remained close to her “Chappell” nieces and nephews: Gary Castle and wife Glenda of Sterling, CO, Linda Smith and husband Gary of Parker, CO, Jim Castle and wife Karen of San Diego, CA and Larry Castle and wife Joyce of Centennial, CO

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Chappell assisted the Castle family with arrangements.
