Myron Schwartz

January 26, 1924 — October 11, 2014

Myron Schwartz, 90 of Chappell, Nebraska passed away late Saturday evening, October 11, 2014 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Friday, October 17, 2014 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Pastor Daniel Larson officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Orphan Grain Train.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell.

Myron Arthur Schwartz was born on January 26, 1924 to Arthur J. and Helen (Boehmer) Schwartz at Ogallala, Nebraska. When he was four years old his family moved to Deuel County where they farmed southeast of Chappell. He attended country schools and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1941. He then worked on the family farm and at the Great Western Sugar Factory until he was drafted into the service in 1944. He served in the United States Navy until May of 1946

On September 7, 1947 he married Dorothy Huston and lived on the farm until they moved into Chappell in 1962.

He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was a member of the choir, ushered and served as financial secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Layman League and V.F.W.

He always enjoyed his family, farming and fixing or repairing anything. He was good at building or fabricating just about anything.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Schwartz of Chappell, NE; daughter Myra Lynn Potter of Palmer, NE; sons Darrel Schwartz and wife Kathy of Greeley, CO and Dennis Schwartz and wife Lisa of Broomfield, CO; 2 sisters: Viola Harms of Molalla, OR and Karen Hilton of Golden, CO; 10 Grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great, great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters: Lillian Schwartz and Jeanetta Hodges; brother Vernon Schwartz and daughter LeAnne Sewald.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Schwartz family.
