Bonnie Sutton

October 21, 1927 — January 8, 2015

Bonnie Sutton, 87, a longtime resident of Sidney, Nebraska passed away late Thursday evening, January 8, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Rev. Thomas Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church or to Breast Cancer Research.

Bonnie, the 8th of nine children of Arthur and Amelia (Miltner) Stoll was born on October 21, 1927, at the family farm, north of Lodgepole, Nebraska. She attended the Goodview School until she was a sophomore. In 1943 the family moved to Long Beach, California where she graduated from Polytechnic High School. The family then moved back to Chappell, Nebraska.

On November 19, 1945 she was married to Thomas B. Sutton. They moved out to Long Beach, California and shared an apartment with her brother and sister-in-law Floyd and Jean Stoll for a short time. They then moved back to Chappell before settling in Sidney.

Bonnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, was a volunteer Pink Lady at the hospital and worked in the gift shop, did meals on wheels and hospice. She was a member of Alpha Nu Sorority. Bonnie worked as a Beautician for over 30 years. Bonnie enjoyed playing bridge or any card games and spending time with family and friends.

The joy of her life were her two children: Linda Brue and Mike Sutton both of Sidney, NE; along with four grandchildren: Tammy Brue of Bridgeport, NE, Tiffany Brue of North Platte, NE, Tom Brue of Erie, CO and Tommy Sutton of Sidney, NE and five great-grandchildren: Nicole Hass of Scottsbluff, NE, Aimee Hass of Bridgeport, NE, Brody and Derek Messersmith of North Platte, NE and Madison Jo of Erie, CO. Bonnie is also survived by her sister Florence Elliott of Sidney, NE

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom; four brothers: Donald, Harold, Floyd, Virgil and Marvin; and sisters Verna Sick and Alberta Schmid. 

 Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Sutton family.
