Anna was born on August 9, 1921 to Lilly and Edward Caywood in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She attended school there, graduating in 1939.

In July of 1942 she married Jerry Schoolcraft. While living in Washington State, she worked as a riveter for the Boeing Corporation. When the family moved to rural Gurley, Anna was a homemaker and worked outside the home as a housekeeper for numerous people. Almost daily she worked for the Ted Egging household and was their Annie.

Whether working in the kitchen at church camp, teaching at Sunday school, being a Boy Scout leader or chasing one of her own, it was apparent she loved children.

If you knew Anna, you probably received a homemade rug she made. In later years she and her friend Marion Mather made many. Anna loved quilting and made many for battered women and Teen Challenge.

She enjoyed gardening, coffee with her sisters, but what she loved most in life was the Lord. She gave her heart to the Lord at a camp meeting in Wyoming as a young girl and has never faltered. She was a praying mother, friend and a true witness to all.

Survivors include two sons: John and Joe Schoolcraft of Gurley, NE; four daughters: Joyce (Ivan) Dobrinski of Bridgeport, NE, Jill (Bob) Wood of Alliance, NE, Pam (Bill) Nims of Joplin, MO and Lynne (Jim) Jacobs of Gurley, NE; daughter-in-law Dorene Schoolcraft of Bridgeport, NE; two brothers: James (Virginia) Caywood of New Mexico and John Amsberry of Florida; brother-in-law Bud Heitz of Nebraska; four sisters: Catherine McElroy and Eleanor (Robert) Lafler all of Sidney, NE, Janice Howle of Florida and Eileen Muich of Virginia; 13 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great, great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Jerry, sisters: Edna Sprenger and husband Keith, Shirley Koppisch and husband Ernie and Fern Heitz; sister-in-law Joan Amsberry and brother-in-laws Mac McElroy and Archie Howle.

Thanks goes to Dr. Michelle Cheloha for many years of care to mom. Also to the Cheyenne County sheriff’s department investigator Zach Goodrich and Deputy Ememenico Falcon for your professionalism, kindness and compassion in our time of need and to Gurley Fire and Rescue. We miss you mom and will be home soon.
