Maria Bartling, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Potter, NE on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew of the Prairie West Church in Potter officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home with further services and burial in Toledo, Ohio.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Maria was born on April 17, 1933 to Manuel and Manuela (Rodriguez) Lopez in Cienfuegos, Cuba. She attended college in Havana and was a math teacher in Cuba. Maria immigrated with her family in May 1966. The family settled in Toledo, OH where she met Gary, her husband of 45 years.
She enjoyed gardening and was exceptionally talented in crochet and needlework. She was a praying, loving mother and a kind friend.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Juanita Lopez.
She is survived by: her husband, Gary Bartling of Potter, NE; her sister Lourdes (Chris) Urbina of Toledo, OH; her two daughters, Ileana (Leonard) Sizemore of Temperance, MI and Rebecca (Vincent) Husted of Middletown, DE; her son, Manuel (Laura) Bartling of Lambertville, MI; two step-daughters, Kathy (Mark) Hollis of Macon, GA and Shelly (Rick) Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; step-son, Gerald (Marilyn) Bartling of Bolivar, TN; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
