Mildred (Millie) Ina (Seibert) Lobner was born on August 17, 1921, to Garnet Hazel Peron and Harry Jonas Seibert in Laurel, Nebraska. Her family moved to Garden County when she was six. She attended rural schools and then high school at Garden County High where she dropped out in her junior year to become her dad's hired hand. On October 14, 1942, Millie married Adolph "Alex" Alexander Lobner in Ogallala, Nebraska. They lived with Alex's parents for a few months before moving into a small house on the ranch. Millie helped with the haying and farming even after their family came along. Garnet and Aaron were born before they moved to the old Noetzelmann place on Ash Creek where they lived when Conrad was born and where they spent the rest of their married lives together. She continued to help out on the farm as well as cooking for hired hands. In their later years, Alex and Millie enjoyed traveling to polka festivals and dancing to the great polka bands until health issues made it impossible for them to continue. They regretted not doing this when they were younger.
Millie loved her children and their families. She always was available to babysit when needed. Her great grandchildren were such a joy to her. She didn't always remember their names or who they belonged to, but every one of them was precious and beautiful to her.
Millie enjoyed going to church at Grace Lutheran Church where she had been a member for much of her married life and continued to attend until she went to the nursing home. She loved a pretty yard and planted lots of flowers especially roses until it became too difficult for her to do so. She lived alone for a couple of years after Alex was gone, then she made her home with Garnet and Ron. In January she went to live in The Waterford at Wilderness Hills in Lincoln. There she met Elizabeth Friesen who became a dear friend. They spent many wonderful hours together reminiscing. She seemed happy at the Waterford but several falls and pneumonia were too much for her. She passed away May 13, 2015, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
She leaves behind three children Garnet (Ron) Storer, Aaron (Terrie) Lobner, Conrad (Peggy) Lobner, all of Lewellen; eight grandchildren, Tony (Nicole) Storer of Lincoln, Cory (Nicole) Storer of Bartonville, IL, Melinda Lobner of Minatare, Joshua Lobner of Lewellen, Andrea (Ryan) Westlake of Chadron, Stephanie Lobner, Cameron (Lacy) Lobner, Jentry Lobner all of Lewellen; seven great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Janice Seibert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Alex, a grandson Travis Storer, her parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Alex's and Millie's ashes will be scattered over the land they loved and interred at Fairview Cemetery north of Lewellen.
