Raymond M. Clark

March 14, 1931 — October 15, 2015

Raymond Clark, 84 of Chappell, Nebraska, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, at Sidney Regional Health Center.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 23, 2015 in the Chappell Cemetery with Rev. David Abbott of the Chappell United Methodist Church officiating.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Raymond Movell Clark was born March 14, 1931 in Deuel County, Nebraska, to Earl and Mae Brown Clark. When he was a small child they moved from the farm into Chappell, NE. He attended Chappell schools and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1949. He attended Kearney State College for one year before enlisting in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Mardelle Edwards on March 20, 1953. They made their home in Virginia until Raymond was discharged. They returned to Chappell, Nebraska, where Raymond worked with his brother, Roger Clark, as part of Clark Brothers Construction. Their son, Scott, was born in 1954 and their daughter, Kimberly, in 1956. In 1977 Raymond and Mardelle moved to Loveland, Colorado, where Raymond worked as a mason and for a custom cabinet company. When they retired they returned to Chappell, NE.

Raymond loved sports and shared this passion with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He played on teams that qualified for the State Tournament when he was in high school. He was an excellent golfer winning the Chappell Club Championship in 1977. He was instrumental in establishing the Chappell Golf Course and erected the flag pole that stands there. He was a strong supporter of the Chappell Buffaloes especially when Scott and Kim were in school. He is responsible for the beautiful brick work on many homes in Chappell, Sidney and surrounding towns. He donated his building skills to several projects at the Methodist Church of which he was a member for 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Peterson, and her husband, Kent, of Anchorage, AK, daughter-in-law, Karan Clark, of Sidney, NE, grandsons: Aaron Clark and wife, Sarah, of Gering, NE and Ryne Clark and wife, Kacey, of Denver, CO, his granddaughter Lana Peterson, of Philadelphia, PA, great grandchildren: Zakk and Ben Clark and Abbi Mick, his sister, Shirley Clark, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and sisters-in-law: Wilma Clark of Chappell, NE and Cathy Rothe of Brooklyn, NY.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mardelle, his son Scott, his brother Roger and his parents.
