Charlotte "Charlie" Kemerling

July 14, 1950 — September 7, 2016

Charlotte Kemerling, 66, of Bridgeport, Nebraska, died unexpectedly at her rural home on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Antelope Valley Cemetery, Oshkosh, Nebraska. Holechek Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Kemerling family.

Charlotte was born on July 14, 1950 in North Platte to Charles and Irene (Lenz) Land, the first of nine children. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1969, moving to Ogallala shortly thereafter. While there she met her future husband, Dale Spencer. They lived in Sidney before moving to Crofton and later to Yankton, SD. They married in June, 1980. Charlotte worked for the State of South Dakota until she retired in 2010 after Dale’s death. She then moved back to the Nebraska Panhandle area to be closer to her family.

At that same time Charlotte reconnected with a friend from the past, marrying Jack Kemerling on July 16, 2011. They made their home in Broadwater before moving to Bridgeport.

Charlotte enjoyed fishing (being designated fish cleaner), camping, cooking, gardening and canning all the while keeping up with friends and family through Facebook. She loved animals and seemed to always name the newest dog, Jingles.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her first husband Dale, stepson Dana Spencer, her parents, two sisters Peggy Jean and Ruth Ellen Land, grandparents R W and Marie Land and George and Nettie Lenz, uncles Gary Tuton, Thurman Lenz, Henry Lenz, Wayne Nelson, and Peter Paulucci, aunt Donna Land Morton and sister-in-law Bonnie (Roy) Land.

Charlotte is survived by her husband Jack, stepchildren Ty Kemerling, Erin Kemerling, Jay (Molly) Kemerling, Jody (Kevin) Wilde, Carla (George) Psninas, Cheryl (Bill) Ballard, Kim (Dave) Myers, Lynn Meyers, Kelly (Dave) Logan and special step-daughter-in-law Judy (Dana) Spencer and their children Eric (Kay) Spencer and Michelle (Mike) Travis, children and grandchildren. Six sibling survive Charlotte including Roy Land, Bonnie (James) Diener, Kathy (James) Stewart, Mary (Raymond) Oliverius, Charles “Chuck” (Deanna) Land, and Carolyn (Steven) Stoppkotte with the nieces and nephews, Peggy (Rex) Bennett, Roy Land II, Alicia (John), Thomas Clark, David (Madison) Diener, Sarah Diener, Michelle (Erik) Hampton, Christine (Matthew) Madison, Jamie Stewart, Nicole Stewart, Michael (Katy) Oliverius, Malissa (Nate) Sharp, Anna (Matt) McClure, Jeremiah (Lisa) Land, Elizabeth Stoppkotte and Lucy Stoppkotte. Along with many extended family members and friends, she is also survived by her best friend Lucy Boschker of Yankton.
