Michelle R. Cook, 51, of Oshkosh passed away late Monday evening, September 26, 2016 at the Regional West Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 1 at the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church with Pastor Michael Ketchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Memorials in Michelle’s name may be designated to the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church.

Michelle Renee (Schwartz) Cook was born September 9, 1965 to Larry and Ruth (Galbreath) Schwartz of Greeley, Colorado. She was the first of two children. Michelle attended school in Greeley and Johnstown, Colorado before the family moved to Bayard, Nebraska in 1976. She graduated from Bayard High School and then attended Highland Hills Beauty Academy in Greeley. She returned to Nebraska and worked as a CNA at Scottsbluff Nursing Center and the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.

On October 21, 1989, she was united in marriage to David Cook in Scottsbluff. To this union, two children were born, daughter, Annsley and son, Garrett.

In 1997, the family moved to Oshkosh, Nebraska. Michelle provided home daycare for two years and, in 1999, began working as a cook at the Garden County High School. In 2005, she became the Head Cook at the Garden County Grade School and in May 2016, she began the same position at the Oshkosh Senior Center.

Michelle was a member of the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church and was active with the Wesleyan Women’s Group, the Alter Committee and was a part of many special events at the church.

Michelle was a very caring and talented person. She was a loving mother to all young children. She made many close friends that became members of her family. She also loved to cook and craft. She was always collecting recipes and trying new dishes. For years, she made gifts for friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, David, of Oshkosh; daughter, Annsley, of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Garrett and special friend, Emily Reif, of Lincoln, Nebraska; parents, Larry and Ruth Schwartz of Lead, South Dakota; brother Randal, and wife, Susan and their daughter, Paige Schwartz of Aberdeen, South Dakota; and cousin, Debbie and husband, Mark Keenan and their sons Trevor and Coulter of Eagle, Colorado.
