Bill Borges, 63 of Dalton, Nebraska died early Thursday morning, December 9, 2010 at the Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 13, 2010 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to Dalton Fire and Rescue and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with the family present from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
William Dee Borges, the son of Franklin and Helen (Schuler) Borges was born July 11, 1947 at Dalton, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm near Dalton and graduated from Dalton High School in 1965. He attended Kearney State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, he returned to the family farm where he farmed and ranched in the Dalton community his entire life.
On October 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Lynn Lessman at Dalton. They made their home on the family farm.
Bill loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting, camping and checking the crops and cows on afternoon “drive abouts”. He was an avid Nebraska football fan.
Bill was a 30 year member of the Dalton Fire Department, as well as a member of the Bridgeport Eagles Aerie #2813 and the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include Cheryl Borges, his wife of 35 years of Dalton, NE; one brother John and wife Diana Borges of Dalton, NE; sister-in-laws Nancy Wilson of Wichita, KS and Sharon Borges of Dalton, NE; brother-in-law LaMond and wife Ellen Lessman of Broadwater, NE; nieces: Tonya (Rich) Stichka, Kylie (Dusty) Stupka and Randi Stichka; nephews: Konn (Brenda) Wilson, Kory (Karen) Wilson, Darin (Starla) Borges, Brad (Mindy) Borges, Chad (Becky) Borges, Ryan (Krystal) Borges and Tauner Stichka as well and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Larry; parents Franklin and Helen Borges; brother-in-law Don Wilson; and in-laws Alvin and Erna Lessman.
