Betty Lou (Lake) Ring age 85 passed away at her home in Oshkosh NE on October 30, 2019.

Betty was born in Oshkosh, Nebraska on Feb 14, 1934 to Harold & Irene (Pebley) Lake. She grew up in Oshkosh on the family farm & attended Garden County High school.  She married Virgil Ring in Bridgeport NE on April 23, 1960.

In 1965 Betty, Virgil & family moved to Libby, Montana where they enjoyed all the beauty and nature of Northwest Montana. Betty & Virgil owned and operated a mobile home park for several years as Libby was a booming community where the Libby Dam Project was taking place.

Betty never met a stranger; she made friends easily, her smile, charm, and great sense of humor provided the means for her to have many friends and keep them all her life. Her friends and her family were most important.

Betty & Virgil continued their adventures after they left Libby:  they resided in Shady Cove, Oregon, then on to Wenatchee WA, then eventually back to her homeland of Nebraska.

Betty loved to cook and feeding people was one of her greatest pleasures. Later in life she enjoyed managing restaurants in Hyannis Nebraska and in Bridgeport Nebraska.  Her cooking and baking skills were second to none, her preserves and jams were award-winning quality.

Betty was known for her feisty side and her lively sense of humor. She was also treasured for her big heart.  She would drop everything to lend a hand to someone in need, and occasionally enjoyed volunteering at the Lewellen VOA.

She loved her children and grandchildren above all, and she was the glue that held the whole family together in good times and bad.

Betty loved the outdoors. She and Virgil spent a great deal of time with fishing poles in hand. One of their most favorite activities while living in Nebraska was to spend the day fishing on a Sandhill Lake.  She could make a garden grow to feed the county and watch out if you played cards with her- she excelled at Texas Hold ‘em! She belonged to several card clubs and enjoyed her weekly games of Poker and Pinochle with her friends.

Betty is survived by her three children, son Dan Ring and wife Deb of Lonepine, Montana, son Marty Ring and wife Dawn of Orofino, Idaho and daughter Jan Ring of Wenatchee, Washington; granddaughters, Mandie Dalimata of Park Rapids Minnesota, Terri Dyer & husband John of Annadale Minnesota, Elizabeth Ring of Big Arm, Montana and grandson KaCee Ring and wife Jacqueline of Fort Benning Georgia; 7 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. Two brothers and their spouses - Dean and Delores Lake of Oshkosh, and Dallas and Sharolyn Lake of Bridgeport Ne. as well as numerous nieces & nephews whom she loved and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, and by her parents Harold and Irene Lake.
