DeLee was born September 7, 1938 in Julesburg CO to Carl W. and Glenis A. (Kanter) Carlson.  He was the oldest of four children and spent most of his life in Chappell NE.  He attended District 10 Country School and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1956.  He continued his education at A&M (CSU) in Ft. Collins CO where he studied Animal Husbandry.

DeLee was united in marriage to Beverly June McCullough on March 11, 1958. To this union three children were born: Geralyn Kay in 1958, Carl Bradley in 1960 and Lisa Louise in 1962.

DeLee worked on the family farm starting at a young age where he developed a love of tending the land that stayed with him throughout his entire life.  In addition to farming dryland wheat himself and tending to a small herd of cattle, he also worked for the Deuel County Highway department. He started as a general laborer when he was a Junior in high school, doing road maintenance, and continued until his retirement as the County Highway Superintendent in 2004.  During this time, he also worked as the interim Highway Superintendent in Garden County for two years. He was a member of the Nebraska Association of County Officials and he proudly served on the Chappell Volunteer Fire Department when he was younger.

DeLee was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and a member of the Berea Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing but his true passion was tinkering around in the quonset.

DeLee never knew a stranger and always found someone to talk to.  He loved to visit and enjoyed spending time observing animals and people.  He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
