Carl L. Snell, 74, of Chappell, Nebraska passed away February 19th, 2026 at Sedgwick County Hospital. The family was present when Carl passed away.

Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and grandkids. He enjoyed sharing his love of auto mechanics with his sons.

Carl was the youngest son of Verling and Ferne L. (Newman) Snell. He was born in Wood River, Nebraska. He attended school and graduated from Mullen High School in 1970.

Carl married Merna A. Schnase August 27, 1972 in Ansley, NE. He was very proud of his three sons, Carl II, Christopher, and Clinton Snell.

He leaves wife Merna, sons Carl II, Chris (Erica Priest), and Clint (Leslie) Snell, three grandsons Jolly (Rylee), Zayne, and ZEISS, six granddaughters Lillie (Eric) Alcala, Jentry (Aidan), Jeryn, Richelle (Ricky), Megan (Ricky), and Adriana (Hannah), two great-grandsons Easton Snell and E.J. Alcala, and three grand-children-in-love Trayiivyn, Trynytii, and O’Zias Kreider.

He was preceded in death by parents Verling and Ferne Snell, brother Ralph Snell, grandparents Jolly and Nina Snell and Wayne and Pearl Newman, Father-in-law and mother-in-law Grant and Margy Schnase, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Linda and Tom Barta, and brother-in-laws Gerald Schnase, Eddie Bryan, and Bill Fann.

A celebration of life will be held on March 7th, 2026, at 1:00 PM (MST) at the Deuel County Fairgrounds in the 4-H building, in Chappell, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Chappell Ambulance Service and Chappell Fire Department or directly to the family at PO Box 178, Chappell, NE 69129.
