Cynthia Leigh Foster was the second child born of three daughters. The oldest sibling was Patricia Susan Foster Luckinbill and the youngest sibling born was Alice LeAnn “Bunny” Foster Sinks.

Cindy was born November 21, 1956 in Longmont, Colorado to Gary Forest Foster and Barbara Cheryl (Lewis) Foster. When Cynthia was three years old, the family moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas. She attended kindergarten through fifth grade and also attended the United Methodist Church during her year in fourth grade. She received her first Bible from the church. She loved being a student of the Bible, which continued the rest of her life. If she was traveling, she usually was carrying 2 to 3 Bibles. She was a devout member of the Lisco Presbyterian Church and always enjoyed Bible studies.

In 1967 to 1968 she moved to Marysville, Kansas with her mother and her two sisters and in the summer of 1968 her mother married Warren W. White, and she inherited the best stepfather in the world. The family then moved to Humboldt Iowa where Cindy attended seventh grade through 12th grade. She worked at a care center during high school and loved taking care of the residents which sparked her love of nursing.

On September 1st, 1979, she married Michael Maruniak with whom she had three children.

Cindy then attended junior college at Scottsbluff, Nebraska and was in the first class of a four-year nursing degree program from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing She then worked as a Registered Nurse at the hospital oncology unit in Scottsbluff.

In 1993 her family moved to Parker Colorado and she worked in several nursing roles including Director of Nursing at Sunbridge Assisted Living and Clinical Supervisor at IHS Home Health Care. She then became a nurse paralegal working for Burg Simpson Law Firm in Englewood, Colorado. Additionally, she became a private investigator during this time. She also worked as a RN at a state penitentiary in Colorado.

Later in life, Cindy moved to Burr Oak, KS to be close to her parents and was married and widowed by Mac Diehl. The couple ran a welding shop together.

Cindy loved the youth, caring for the wounded, the broken hearted, and the elderly, and was a nurse to her core but she also loved to collect glassware and other beautiful knickknacks including antiques. Cindy was very much in her happy place when spending time planting in her yard and caring for her trees and flowers. She had an eye for just the right planter or yard décor, loving lights. One of her greatest joys was participating in having her yard landscaped also nurturing her beautiful flower garden. Cindy also spent a great deal of time having fun with her younger sister Bunny. The pair was self proclaimed as “CinnaBun”.

Cindy’s dearly loved companion “Mercy” was always by Cindy’s side, accompanying her on short or long road trips and always begging for another treat. It was believed that Cindy and Mercy were able to read each other’s minds.

Cindy is survived by her daughter, Darcie Weiser and two grandchildren, Tatum and Ethan Weiser all of South Carolina. She was proceeded in death by her daughter Lacie Maruniak on July 15, 2001. Cindy is also survived by son Mitchell Maruniak and wife, Jessica of Commerce City, Colorado, her sisters, Patti and Bunny and their families as well as their “adopted” daughter Cori of Kansas City, Missouri.
