Born on April 22, 1954, in Sidney, Nebraska, Dave was the youngest son of Glenn and Donna (Maddox) Geiger. He was a member of the Sidney High Class of ’73. He enlisted in the United States Navy before his senior year. In August 1972, he married his best friend, Judy Stegeman, in Chappell, Nebraska. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Stephanie and Erik.
In 1974, Dave co-founded Geiger’s Oil Field Construction alongside his father and brother, Ed. Beyond his hard-working life, Dave was a fixture in the local wrestling community, spending years coaching his son, nephews, and countless others in Federation Wrestling and the Sidney High School team.
Dave and Judy found their piece of paradise at Lake McConaughy in 1996. Whether he was scuba diving, boating, hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, or hitting the open highway on his motorcycle, Dave was happiest outdoors and with his family. Above all, he was a devoted grandfather who will be remembered for his silly stories and his incredibly big heart.
Left with his memory are his wife, Judy; children Stephanie and Eric Dishman, Erik and Shannon (Knight) Geiger; grandchildren Fides and Levi Dishman, Kiera Geiger; brother Ed Geiger; sister-in-law Ofelia Stegeman; nephews Tony and Brian Geiger; nieces Jackie Valenzuela, Hope Feeney, and Brenna Geiger.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Bill Stegeman; brother Marty Geiger; brother-in-law Rocky Stegeman; and nephew Marty Geiger Jr.
