Donald "Duck" White

Donald “Duck” White, 84, of Oshkosh, passed away early Friday morning, October 22, 2021, at the Regional West Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Oshkosh Community Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bruce Neal officiating.   Burial will follow in the Antelope Valley Cemetery.

Services will be streamed live and available to watch after the service on the Holechek-Bondegard Facebook page (www.facebook.com/hbfunerals).

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Oshkosh.

Memorials in Duck’s name can be made to the family for later designation.

Donald “Duck” Milton White was born January 6, 1937, at his country home to Milton and Melanie (Bahns) White.  He received his education in Garden County where he graduated in 1955.

While in high school Duck worked in the grocery store business and continued with that until his retirement.  Duck liked to collect coins and stamps, take pictures, and work as the money taker at sporting events for Garden County Eagles which he did for 50 years.  While working at the grocery store, he met the love of his life, Verna Howlett.  They were united in marriage on December 15, 1989, in Oshkosh and with this union he gained 4 children whom he adopted as his own.

Duck never knew a stranger and no matter where he went, he would talk to anyone and everyone even if he didn’t know them.

Duck is survived by his wife, Verna; children, Roger and wife, Sarah White of Oshkosh, John White of Oshkosh, Kristine and husband, Nicholas Cyrus of Oshkosh, and Sharla and husband, Connor O’Rourke of Harrisburg; 5 grandchildren, Trae Brown and girlfriend, Rhonda of Chappell, Paeton Brown of Ogallala, Beau and Brock White of Oshkosh, and Hunter Cyrus of Oshkosh; brothers, Jim and wife, Judy White of Lincoln, Buzz and wife, Sylvia White of Lincoln, and Richard and wife Corky White of Bridgeport; sisters, Bonnie Franklin of Bridgeport and June Waltman of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Duck was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob White, sister, Mary Stuart, nephew, Mike Waltman, niece, Peggy Waltman, and many other family members.
