James William Callihan born on January 25th, 1943 in Pickaway County Ohio to Delmer and Georgie (Wheeler) Callihan, passed away at Garden County Nursing Home on March 17th, 2026. He was 83 years old. Jim was one of eight children.
Jim was a young man when he moved to Clyde Kansas where he met his first wife. To this union was born 2 sons. Jeff Callihan and Craig Callihan.
During this time, he earned a living learning the trade of hauling hogs throughout Kansas and neighboring states.
After he separated from his first wife, he moved back to Ohio where he reunited with his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Patricia (Downs) Callihan. Thery where together for 26 years until her death in 2013.
While Jim and Pat were married, he drove truck for Dallas-Mavis, a trucking company that hauled new semi tractors to dealerships. Jim eventually retired from trucking, only to realize he was not ready to stay home full time. Dallas-Mavis had a job opening that allowed him to shuttle like drivers from the airport to their next haul. Jim thoroughly enjoyed being able to trade stories back and forth with these new found friends.
Jim had many adventures driving truck across country, even running into his big brother Bob from time to time to share stories old and new.
Anyone who knew Jim would agree that he was ornery as the day was long.
After Pats death, Jim eventually settled in Oshkosh, Nebraska to be closer to his brother Bob and Joe to live out the rest of his life reminiscing of day gone by.
Jim is survived by many nieces and nephews and four grandchildren, Brandon, Alicia, Macy and Mallory.
Jim is preceded in death by Siblings Erma Wykoop, Pauline Callihan, Alfreda Ratcliff, Carolyn Johnson, Charles Callihan, Jenny Brown, and Joe Callihan. Sons Jeff Callihan and Craig Callihan. Wife Patrica Callihan.
Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Jim’s wishes no formal services will be held.
