Lester Reichman

Chappell, Nebraska

Lester Reichman, 89, of Chappell passed away Thursday evening, January 18, 2024 in Olathe, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Chappell United Methodist Church with Pastor Riaan Nel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Chappell Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday at the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Chappell.

Richard Lester Reichman was born on March 24, 1934, to Vester William and Laura Mae (Perry) Reichman. Lester was the oldest child of 4 kids, and he grew up on the farm south of Chappell.   Les graduated from Chappell High School at the age of 17, he stayed in Chappell to help his parents on the farm and to also keep an eye on Karen Clark.  He was drafted into the Army in 1956.   After Karen graduated in 1956, Lester and Karen were married May 22,1956 and moved to Oklahoma where Lester was assigned after basic training.   Lester and Karen had 3 children.  The first child, a son Bill, was born in Oklahoma. After moving back to Chappell, they had 2 daughters Tammy and Vicky.
 
Lester has worked several jobs during his life in Chappell.  He was, just to mention a few, an insurance salesman, worked at the sugar beet factory, drove the school bus, and worked at the post office.  He also mowed the lawns at the city parks.
 

Lester was an active member of the Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Fire dept., Lions club, and Jaycees.  Lester was a part of the football chain gang at the high school football games.  

Les also enjoyed going to The Nebraska football games, dancing at Dance club with Karen on Saturday nights, going to supper club and attending family picnics (Perry, Clark, and Reichman). He also enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing many card games. He frequently visited Burgie’s and Hansen’s for coffee with a group of friends.  He loved bowling and watching the baseball teams in Chappell.
  
Lester was predeceased by his wife, Karen and son, Bill, his parents Vester and Laura, father and mother in laws, Glenn and Hellen Clark, Ruth and Dee Webb, brother in laws Ray Clark, Dallas Williams, and Charlie Duffield and sister-in-law Carol Clark.
 
 He is survived by daughters Tammy (husband Mike) and Vicky (husband Willie), his sister Mary Alice Duffield and his brothers Dayton (wife Judy) and Lyle, his brothers in law Dick and David (wife Linda) Webb.  Also left behind are his 5 grandchildren TK(aka Tornado kitten) his wife(Lora), Lauree Kessler (husband Sean), Corey Kolkman, Taylor Mittleider (husband Sam) and Will Kolkman (wife Elyse); his Great grandchildren Marlee and Madeline Thornburg and Tyler and Aiden Kessler (who will soon be born around his Great Grandpa’s birthday.  He also leaves behind a large number of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many great friends.
