He attended Meadowlawn School and graduated from Dalton High School in 1953. Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and served at Fort Carson, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; and Woodbury, New Jersey, during his two years of service.
Lloyd married Johnadene Hayden on January 16, 1957. Throughout his life he was an active member of the Dalton community. He served with the Dalton Fire Department, on the Dalton School Board, and on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church until it became the United Church of the Plains, where he remained a member for the rest of his life.

Lloyd loved spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting with friends and sometimes giving them a bit of a hard time, fishing with Fred, Wink, and Gary, and sharing coffee with his buddy Merlin.
Those who loved Lloyd will carry his steady humor, his stories, and his quiet strength with them always.
