Mardelle Arlene Wier was born June 17, 1938 in Grandview, Iowa to E.L. and Lillian (Brokl) Wier.  The family lived in Iowa and then moved to Ottawa, Kansas.  When Mardelle was about 11, they moved to the Sioux Army Depot in Sidney, Nebraska where her dad had been transferred.

Mardelle Wier and Jim Ledbetter were married in 1954, in Chappell and became parents of 3 children, Christi Jane, Kelly James, and Curtis Damon.  She dearly loved her family and was much loved by them.  She dedicated her life to her marriage and raising her children.  She was always there for them, through good times and bad.

Mardelle was an active member of the United Methodist Church for many years.  She volunteered with meals on wheels and gardening at the Chappell Heritage House, which she loved.  She was also a Cub Scout Leader.

She had many interests and hobbies.  In their early years, she, Jim, and the kids loved spending time at the lake fishing, camping, water skiing and watching the tent blow down!  She was a wonderful gardener and loved planting flowers.  She definitely had a green thumb.  She also enjoyed playing golf in her spare time.  She enjoyed watching football and golf.  She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs in Chappell.  She enjoyed playing Kings in the Corner with her kids and friends around the kitchen table.

She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and friend, and will live forever in our hearts.

Mardelle is survived by her daughter, Christi, and husband, Randy Butts; her sons Kelly and Curtis Ledbetter; granddaughters, Ashlee Folsom and Lindsey, and husband, Nick Brezina; grandsons, Jacob and Levi, and his wife, Kyler Ledbetter; and great-grandson, Raleigh Ledbetter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E.L. and Lillian Wier, and her husband of 67 years, Jimmy.
