Marjorie "Margie" Haberman

January 26, 1925 — September 16, 2018

Marjorie Jean Haberman, 93, was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018, at the Regional West Garden County Nursing home in her hometown of Oshkosh, Nebraska.

The only child of Floyd L. Ferrell and Margaret (Filbert) Ferrell, Marjorie was born on January 26, 1925, in Oshkosh, Nebraska, where she grew up and attended school. Her family loved the Nebraska Sandhills and made their home there for generations. One of her favorite past times as a child was riding horses with her parents on the land that they loved.

Marjorie attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln from 1943-1947 and earned a B.S. in Education. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Following graduation, she returned to Oshkosh and taught Commercial Studies, including typing and shorthand, at Garden County High School for a few years. Although she loved the students, she instead chose to work with her father at the Nebraska State Bank where she was employed for more than a decade.

On August 8, 1964, she married the love of her life, Harold Haberman. They enjoyed more than fifty years of marriage and were devoted to their Oshkosh community.

Throughout her lifetime, Marjorie was an active volunteer in the community serving in various roles for the library, school, Order of Eastern Star, and United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school at the Oshkosh United Methodist Church and remained a loyal member of Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae. Her philanthropic activities were quiet yet far reaching. Marjorie was a friend to many and known for always having a friendly greeting.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Harold and her beloved daughter Margaret Ann (Stan) and grandsons Sam and Jake Baker of Centennial, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Oshkosh United Methodist Church, 497 W. 3rd Street, Oshkosh, Nebraska 69154 or the Regional West Garden County Foundation-Nursing Home, 1100 W 2nd Street, Oshkosh, Nebraska 69154.
