Molly Ann Custer Vogler was born to Seeman and Edith (Golden) Custer on August 16, 1943 at a rural Lisco farmhouse. Molly graduated from Garden County High School in 1961. She attended Chadron State College for one year. She then worked for Dr. Albee and Dr. Harold Rounsburg for three years.
On February 5, 1966, Dr. Albee gave Molly to William K. Vogler at a St. Elizabeth Catholic Church wedding. Bill and Molly lived in Colorado for 3 years and moved to Lisco in December of 1967. Marci joined the family in Colorado and two sons, Mark and Matt were born in Lisco.
She worked at the Oshkosh Supperette and part-time at the Lisco Elementary. Molly was employed at the Rush Creek Land and Livestock Company in Lisco for 14 years. Then she became the vice-president of Sales and Marketing at the Coldwater Fish Farm at Lisco for 14 years until the closing of the fish farm. She was also the office manager at the fish farm.
Molly is survived by her husband, Bill Vogler; daughter, Karla “Marci” and husband, Dave Barker of Grand Island; sons, Mark and wife, Beatriz Vogler of Dodge City, KS, and Matt and wife, Penny Vogler of Colby, KS; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren with 3 more due in the near future; brother, Gary and wife, Susan Custer of Longmont, CO; sister-in-law, Jan Custer of Broken Bow, NE; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Molly was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; 4 brothers, Delbert (Mary) Custer, Tuff (Fay) Custer; Neal Stanley (Janet) Custer, and Norman Custer; 2 nephews, Rick Custer and Jerry Custer; and 4 nieces, Tammy Matthewton, Linda Custer, Connie Steger, Cathy Weinmaster.
Molly and Bill lived in Lisco 56 years in the same house for 54 years. Molly was active in the community and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the St. Gall Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She taught Catechism for a few years, when her children were younger.
Molly was always supportive of community activities, assisting in float building, bake sales, celebration programs, fund drives, and supported and helped Bill in any way she could on community projects and development.
Molly was apprehensive about her move to Grand Island but loved the move once she and Bill got settled. She formed a Bridge Club at the Independent Living at Tabitha, and she was getting more involved every day in the many activities.
Molly was really looking forward to three more great grandchildren in near future, and she was looking forward to celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary in February 2026!
Molly had many friends, and she was always fun to be with! She will be missed by all, but we have many wonderful memories of a great lady who showed a lot of class and respect to all!
Rest in peace.
May God take care of you!
Your faith was always strong!
