Peter "Pete" Olson

Peter "Pete" Robert Olson, 49, of rural Oshkosh, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at Garden County Health Services Hospital in Oshkosh, Nebraska, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh with Pastor Scotty Ray officiating.

Pete was born on February 23, 1977, in Oshkosh, Nebraska, to Jim and Carol Olson. He was born, raised, and spent his entire life in the community he loved. He graduated from Garden County High School in 1996 and went on to earn his degree from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska, in 1998.

Ranching wasn't just Pete's livelihood; it was his passion. He had a deep love for raising cattle and took great pride in caring for the land and livestock. A gifted fabricator with an incredibly creative mind, Pete could build, repair, or invent just about anything. Whether solving a problem in the shop or helping someone with a project, he was happiest working with his hands and finding practical solutions.

Pete also had a special love for his dogs, who were loyal companions throughout his life.

Above all, Pete loved his family. His children, Adrienne, Jairett, Ely, and Rainee, were the greatest joys of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was also blessed with one grandchild, who he was incredibly proud of. Pete shared a special bond with his parents, valued his sister, Jenny, loved his cousins like lifelong friends, and held a deep appreciation for his grandparents, whose influence remained with him throughout his life.

Those who knew Pete will remember him for his quiet strength, steady presence, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was an exceptional neighbor, a devoted father and son, and a man whose kindness, integrity, and humble nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Pete was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Audrey Olson; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Louise Babl; his aunts, Barbara Hill and Linda Lorenzen and a great uncle, Dale Waltman.

Pete is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Carol Olson, both of rural Oshkosh, Nebraska; his sister, Jennifer Moffat (Moe) of rural Oshkosh, Nebraska; his children, Adrienne Nicole Olson (Colton) of Carrollton, Texas; Jairett Chance Olson of Humphrey, Nebraska; and Ely James Olson and Rainee Lee Olson, both of rural Oshkosh, Nebraska; girlfriend, Michelle Schneider of Juniata, Nebraska along with her children Hope, Steven, Samantha and Janita; one cherished grandchild; his nieces, Kelsee Moffat and Kenzee White (Zach); numerous aunts and uncles include uncle Harlow Hill and aunt June Waltman; special cousins Lori Lake, Jana Schwartz, and Hadley Hill (Francesca), along with numerous other cousins; and many extended family members, friends, neighbors, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory.

Pete faced life's challenges with courage, humility, and determination. His legacy is so much more than the memories he leaves behind. It lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, the kindness he showed, the work of his hands, and the love he gave so freely to his family, friends, and community. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the impact he made will continue for generations to come.
