Theodore "Ted" Fiesterman

Theodore (Ted) William Fiesterman, of Lewellen, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Ogallala Community Hospital. He was 90 years old.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen with Brenda Tophoj, PMA officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ted’s name can be made to any entity in the Village of Lewellen.

Ted was born on June 25, 1934, 12 miles north of Oshkosh, to Ben and Geneva (Truscott) Fiesterman. Nine months later, they moved to the home where Ted was raised. He rode his horse to attend the country school during his grade school years, where he was known as Teddy Bill. Then, boarded in town in order to receive his high school education from Garden County Schools and graduated in 1951.

Before going to the oil fields, he did numerous jobs in Garden County. He pitched hay in a grinder for a winter. He worked for the REA laying out poles. Ted also custom baled for people.

In 1953, Ted went to the oil fields until 1958. Besides drilling locally in Garden County, he worked in various places including the Nebraska panhandle, Wyoming, Montana, Canada, and Oregon.

In 1956, he married Donna Irene White in Crosby, North Dakota. To this union, 5 daughters were born: Debbie, Jody, Darlene, Dorene, and Tricia. They also had a foster son, Rick.

In August of 1958, they moved back to Garden County. Upon returning to Garden County, while residing north of Lewellen and farming and ranching, Ted had a tire repair shop. He then drove for LP Gas Company. In 1965, Ted and Irene moved to their home on Blue Creek and began a dairy farm, while continuing to farm and run cattle. In 1978, they discontinued the dairy farm but continued to farm and ranch.

Ted retired from farming and ranching in 2007. In his spare time, Ted enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, talking shop over coffee with friends to start the day, and happy hour with friends and family to end the day.

Ted is survived by his five daughters: Debbie Delatour, of Lewellen, Jody (Pete) Roberson, of Oshkosh, Darlene (Barry) Schaeffer, of Lewellen, Dorene (Rich) Paisley, of Oshkosh, and Tricia (Dan) Foster, of Houston, TX, foster son Rick (Pam) Coulter, of Lincoln, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; sister, Barb, of Arizona, sister-in-law Leola Ainsworth, of Oshkosh, sister-in-law DD White, of Glendale, AZ, special friends, Cliff Polk, Duane Kirch, and Delores Koeppen; nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene, parents Ben and Geneva, inlaws Arlie and Alta White, sister Bonnie, brother-in-law Pat Ainsworth, brother-inlaw Dick White, son-in-law Van Delatour, granddaughter Natalie Delatour, greatgrandson John Delatour, and special friend Calvin Gaynor.
